DESCRIPTION:\nCERT Community Meetings \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho \n\nLAFD CERT Battalion 15 \n\n\n\n\n\nWhereShow on map \n\nLAFD Fire Station 87\, 10124 Balboa Blvd\, Granada Hills\, CA \n\n\n\n\nDescription \n\nLearn  (refresh) how to perform cribbing – lifting an object off a victim. \nOnce again\, we wish to help you practice important skills that could be crucial after a modest or heavy disaster. \nThis is one of the skills taught within the LAFD CERT classes (part of Search and Rescue).  The process truly epitomizes the concept of ‘team work’.  A group of trained CERT members (minimum of 6 ) could survey a situation and once they determine that it is safe to proceed\, would set up wooden blocks (called cribbing) as shown in the attached picture.  Starting with 1 level\, the ‘object’ would be LIFTED 1 INCH and then the team would CRIB to support the object.  Using a combination of wooden wedges to slowly (and carefully) raise and eventually clear the object.  This would need to be ‘high enough’ to be able to remove the victim.  Once the victim is removed and checked-out by medical personnel\, the team would need to lower the object so that others are not hurt if it should fall or collapse. \nPlease wear jeans or similar attire; bring your work gloves and join us. \nWe will meet and discuss the process in the classroom and then assemble in the ‘backyard’ of the Fire Station. \nJoin us for the Cribbing Drill and Practice \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
