SUMMARY:Westside Village Disaster Readiness Drill
DESCRIPTION:DISASTER READINESS DRILL\nThe Westside Village Home Association (hosted by our Valerie Fontaine) is putting on a mock Disaster Drill which will involve members of the community simulating\, in real time\, what they will do after a major earthquake hits the Los Angeles area. Your CERT Team will deploy into the area to handle Search & Rescue Tasks\, medical triage & first aid\, communications\, and so on. Over the course of this drill\, CERTs will be faced with the issue of managing residents\, dealing with convergent volunteers\, and dealing with the “ups & downs” that come with running a hastily set up disaster operation. \nGet hands-on training and practice in basic skills you and your family will need in case of disaster \n\n\n\nsearch & rescue\nfirst aid\nradio communications\n\n\n\nSunday\, June 2\, 2019\n10:00 am – 1:00 pm \nApproximate timeline\, subject to change: \n  \n\n0830-0930 Hours: Sign-in\, set up\, inspection of gear\, dispensation & sign out of equipment such as radios\n0930-0950 Hours: Mock situations are delivered to the addresses of participating residents + CERT mentors take up stations in neighborhood\n1000-1030 Hours: Disaster has taken place. Residents check their ENVELOPES to determine their status and what they will do next.\n1030-1300 Hours-Disaster Drill in full effect with residents\, if possible\, making their way to the IC. CERTs\, already located at the IC\, will already be dispersing into the neighborhood with their own set of situations they must grapple with. CERTs remaining at IC will handle communications\, records recording\, medical triage\, and all other needed tasks. Additionally\, we are working on having the LAFD join us to do their “windshield survey” and interact with those members on the ground.
